Fire breaks out at CGO complex


New Delhi, Mar 6 (PTI) A fire broke out Wednesday on the fifth floor of Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Bhawan at the CGO complex that houses important government offices, according to Delhi Fire Services officials.  The Fire department got a call regarding the blaze at 8:34 am. Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Assembly has lodged a written complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer pointing out the involvement/ interference of Patiala district dispensation, allegedly involving some politically influential teachers of the Punjabi University, Patiala owing allegiance to certain political outfits, asking them to performing election duties in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking relaxation in the specifications for wheat for procurement in the current season, in view of the crop losses suffered by farmers due to unseasonal rains. The Chief Minister has also asked the prime minister to direct the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution to depute a team of experts to visit Punjab to assess the loss in quality of wheat due to the rains so that suitable revised specifications can be laid down.
